Kris Rietveld is a multi-talented singer, artist, and vocal coach hailing from Holland. His love for music began at a young age, with his father, an accomplished guitar player, introducing him to a diverse range of genres from Chick Corea and Weather Report to Take 6 and Chaka Khan, while his mother introduced him to the soulful sounds of Portuguese Fado, James Taylor, and Mariah Carey. He would often sing along to the solos of Bob Mintzer, a renowned saxophone player, from some yellow jackets records he “borrowed” from his father.

While initially unsure if people would be interested in his singing, Kris pursued a study in music production. However, everything changed when he heard Kurt Elling singing the notes of the legendary jazz saxophonist Dexter Gordon. Inspired, Kris then embarked on a journey to study Jazz and Pop music, and further immersed himself in soul and gospel music, ultimately graduating with honors from the conservatory in just three years.

Throughout his career, Kris has had the opportunity to work with acclaimed artists such as Oleta Adams, Michael Kiwanuka, and Chaka Khan. He has also shared the stage with well-known Dutch artists like Alain Clark and Trijntje Oosterhuis and even won the Eurovision Songfestival as a backup vocalist for Duncan Laurence, performing in front of 160 million viewers!

Currently, Kris is actively pursuing his passion for music by finding ways to play with his musical heroes. As an artist he performs with his band 'Beautiful Strangers', a group of close friends with whom he recently released their first record. He is also collaborating closely with Philip Lassiter, a Grammy-winning arranger, artist and trumpet player from the United States, with whom he is recording loads of new music and touring extensively.

In addition to his artistic endeavors, Kris is a passionate vocal coach, inspiring and guiding aspiring and accomplished artists in their vocal development. With years of experience teaching at multiple conservatories in the Netherlands and working closely with artists, Kris brings a unique perspective to his students, helping them hone their technical and artistic skills.

Beyond his music career, Kris is also a proud papa to two beautiful daughters and has recently tied the knot with their mother and the love of his life.
